About AVAxParis
What is AVAxParis?
AVAxParis is the conference for people committed to the farmed animal movement in France. Over two days it brings together up to 220 activists, professionals, researchers, organizations and people committed to building a stronger, more strategic and more collaborative movement working to end the use of animals.
What is AVAx and who organizes it?
AVAx are the national events of AVA International (Animal & Vegan Advocacy), created to bring international movement spaces closer to advocates in each country, in their language and adapted to their reality. AVAxParis is the 2027 pilot, organized by a local team with AVA International's support.
Where does the funding come from? Does the organization make money from the event?
Setting up an event like this is costly. AVAxParis is supported by a variety of foundations and private donors, and the organization makes no money from the event. It is a necessary investment to build stronger movements for animals, able to confront an enormous, wealthy and powerful animal agriculture lobby.
Who is it for?
Activists, including grassroots activists, people working or volunteering at organizations, researchers, funders, students, and anyone who wants to contribute to a better-prepared movement for animals in France. No previous experience needed.
What are the goals of AVAxParis?
Some of the event's goals are: networking, getting to know other people in the movement, strengthening our movement, starting projects together and learning from each other.
What language are the sessions in?
The program is designed for the French context and sessions are held in French. There will be no translation, so we recommend taking part only if you have at least a high level of French.
Tickets
How much is a ticket?
€100. It includes access to both days and all main meals: two breakfasts, two lunches and Saturday dinner.
How do I buy a ticket?
Book your place on our tickets page. There are only 220 places, so we recommend not waiting.
What happens after I register?
You'll receive the event details by email together with an invitation to the AVAxParis app on Whova. There you'll find up-to-date information on the program, speakers, logistics, networking opportunities, important announcements and other resources.
Is there support if I can't afford the ticket or travel?
Yes: AVAxParis offers financial support (travel awards) for activists who need help with the ticket, travel and accommodation in Paris. Awards are only offered to people who live in France and speak French fluently; French nationality is not required. Each application is assessed case by case. We want to make sure AVAxParis fully serves the movement in France.
Applications are open until 30 April 2027: apply here. If your situation is special, write to us.
Can I transfer my ticket or get a refund?
We honor refund requests up to 3 weeks before the event; other requests are reviewed case by case. See the refund policy or write to us through the contact form (topic: Registration).
Will there be photos or recordings during the event?
Yes. We take photos and record parts of some sessions (short clips, not full sessions) to share the event and the movement. By registering you agree to appear in this material. If you would rather not, tell us before the event starts — through the contact form or by email to tim@avainternational.org — and you will get a visible badge so the photo and video team keeps you out of the pictures.
Program
What kind of sessions are there?
{{program.sessions}} sessions across four rooms (Grande Salle, Salle Seine, Salle Montmartre and Atelier Belleville): inspiring talks by movement leaders, hands-on workshops for activist development, panels and strategic debates, and structured networking. See the full program.
Do I need to sign up for each session?
No. Your ticket lets you join any session in each slot, while the room has space. On the program page you can star your favorites and download your agenda to your calendar.
Can the program change?
Yes. Any change will be updated on this website and announced in the event app.
Will the sessions be recorded?
We won't record full sessions. Afterwards we will share some clips of the most relevant moments and the most important findings, so the whole movement can learn from them.
Who are the speakers?
Activists and leaders from many organizations in the movement. Profiles are published on the speakers page and in the event app.
Logistics
Where is it?
At La Fabrique Belleville, 18 rue des Lilas Fictives, 75020 Paris, in the heart of Paris's Belleville area, a few minutes from Belleville and Pyrénées metro stations. It's a spacious, cozy venue, ideal for an inspiring event, with plenty of spots to connect with others. It has a lovely courtyard and lots of natural light, so everyone feels at home and can take a break whenever they need during the event. More in practical info.
What time does each day start and end?
Doors open at 9:00 with registration and breakfast; the opening plenary is at 9:45. Saturday ends with a reception, networking and dinner (until 22:00). Sunday closes with the survey, group photo and closing.
Which meals are included?
All main meals: breakfast and lunch on both days plus Saturday dinner. All food is 100% vegan. If you have allergies or dietary needs, tell us through the contact form.
Why are meals included in the ticket?
So you don't need to leave the venue to find food and can make the most of the event. Meals are also a great moment to sit down with other activists, get to know each other and network. And it's great food: fully vegan cooking by Le Potager Vagabond, from celebrated vegan chef Hugo Sauvage.
Is accommodation included?
No. We recommend staying near Belleville, Ménilmontant, République or Oberkampf, all well connected to La Fabrique Belleville. If you need support, accommodation can be part of a travel award: apply here (until 30 April 2027).
Is the venue accessible?
We want everyone to be able to take part. If you have any accessibility needs, write to us through the contact form (topic: Accessibility) and we'll prepare with you before the event.
What should I bring?
Your registration confirmation (on your phone is fine), an ID, the event app installed and an appetite for meeting people. Bring material from your organization to share during networking if you like.
Are speakers, facilitators or the team paid?
No. None of the speakers, facilitators or team members are paid to take part in AVAxParis. We only cover travel and accommodation costs where needed. Tim, the main organizer, works for AVA International on its global programs and is setting up the event in France as the pilot of the new AVAx project.
I have allergies or dietary needs. What should I do?
All food is 100% vegan. If you have allergies or intolerances (gluten, nuts, soy, sesame…) tell us clearly when you register, or write to tim@avainternational.org at least two weeks before the event. After that date we cannot guarantee an alternative.
Getting involved
Can I propose a session?
The call for sessions closed on 1 September and the program is now complete. Thanks to everyone who sent a proposal!
Can I volunteer?
Volunteer applications are closed. If you already applied, the team will contact you with shifts and briefing.
How can my organization or company sponsor AVAxParis?
See the packages on the sponsors page and fill in the interest form: we reply within two working days.
Can I cover the event as press?
Yes, write to us through the contact form choosing “Press and media”.
Organizing an AVAx
How can I organize an AVAx in my country?
At the moment AVA International is not receiving applications to organize AVAx conferences; it will announce when applications open. 2027 is the Paris pilot, with the aim of two AVAx events in 2027 and growing from there. Subscribe to the AVA International newsletter to stay updated.
Can there be more than one AVAx in the same country?
AVAx events are organized nationally, so only one event per country can be held each year.
What support does AVA International give local organizers?
Besides funding, AVA International guides organizers on their approach and program, venue and catering, building their core team and steering committee, approaching local funders, and communication through adaptable templates. Support is remote (Slack, Asana and regular calls); the AVA International team does not attend AVAx events.
